đź’ĽÂ Professional Background
What inspired you to pursue a career in physical therapy/physical therapy assisting?
I've always enjoyed movement and sports, and I was definitely a bit of a "jock" growing up. More importantly, I've always rooted for the underdog and been inspired by people who overcome challenges. Physical therapy combines those interests by helping people regain function, achieve their goals, and often accomplish things they didn't think were possible.
Â
How long have you been practicing, and what setting do you currently work in?
I've been a physical therapist for 28 years. I have worked in acute care, community re-entry, inpatient rehab and hospital-based outpatient. I consider myself a jack of all trades but more proficient in neuro and vestibular therapy.  For the past 10 years, I've worked primarily in PT/PTA education. I also continue to see patients through UF’s Equal Access Clinic, which helps me stay connected to clinical practice and the people we serve.
Â
What’s your favorite part of working with patients or clients?
I genuinely enjoy connecting with people. I love hearing their stories, learning from their experiences, and working together to help them reach their goals. Every patient teaches me something new.

🌟 Professional Involvement
4.      How has being a member of APTA/FPTA benefited you professionally or personally?
Professionally, APTA and FPTA provide valuable resources, evidence, and professional guidance that help me stay current and do my job effectively. Personally, the organizations have connected me with colleagues and mentors who share a passion for advancing the profession.
Â
5.      What advice would you give to students or early-career PTs/PTAs?
Explore widely. Try different settings, populations, and opportunities. The best way to discover what you truly enjoy is to experience a variety of roles and challenges. You may be surprised by what resonates with you.
Â
6.       What do you think are the biggest opportunities or challenges facing the field right now?
One of our biggest challenges is addressing the systemic barriers that prevent patients from receiving timely, efficient, and high-quality care. At the same time, physical therapists have tremendous opportunities to demonstrate our value and improve access to care for the communities we serve.
Â
💬 Fun & Personal Side
7.      If you could have dinner with any historical or famous figure, who would it be and why?
It's hard to choose just one! Honestly, I think I'd most enjoy having dinner with one of my ancestors. I'd love to learn about their lives, hear their stories firsthand, and better understand the experiences that helped shape my family.
Â
8.      What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
You'll usually find me playing pickleball, spending time with my fur babies, enjoying a good book club discussion, or sharing great food, wine, and conversation with family and friends, and my hammock.
