Where do you practice?
I work full-time as a Physical Therapist Assistant at UF Health Heart, Vascular, and Neuromedicine Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. I primarily treat patients in the Pulmonary ICU, Neurology, and Neurosurgery units. Additionally, I work PRN at UF Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
Tell us about your practice?
I care for critically ill patients, including those undergoing lung transplants and those recovering from neurological injuries or surgeries. My focus is on early mobility and helping patients regain their independence. Before returning to full-time clinical care, I served as the Program Coordinator for the PTA program at Florida Gateway College, where I developed a passion for mentoring future PTAs.
What led you to want to become a PTA?
My journey began when I witnessed my sister’s rehabilitation after a knee injury. Later, while working as a rehab aide at UF Health Rehabilitation Hospital, I saw the profound impact PTAs have on patients' lives and knew I had found my calling.
What’s your favorite thing about being a PTA?
I love witnessing patients achieve milestones they once thought impossible—standing after a lung transplant or taking their first steps after a stroke. I also find great fulfillment in mentoring PTA students and helping them grow in this rewarding profession.
